Entry & Travel Requirements: Visa & Entry: If you’re from the U.S. or another visa-exempt country, you’ll need ETIAS authorization starting in 2025; Passport Validity: Ensure your passport is valid for at least 3 months beyond your departure from the Schengen Area.
Currency & Payments: Currency: Travelers will need three different currencies. In Hungary, the currency is the Hungarian Forint (HUF). In Austria, the currency is the Euro (EUR). And in Czech Republic, the currency is the Czech Koruna (CZK); Card Usage: Credit/debit cards are widely accepted, but it’s good to have some cash, especially for small vendors, markets, and rural areas; Tipping Culture: Tipping 10% is standard and expected at most restaurants. In Hungary, tipping around 10-15% is standard if a service charge isn’t included. In Austria, tipping between 5-10% is customary, given directly to the server in cash. It is common to round up the bill rather than leaving change on the table. In Czech Republic, tipping 10% is expected at most restaurants, but always check if a service charge is already included.
